Sick Day

Could someone tuck me like this?
Today I had a plan, it did not include being sick. I wanted do laundry, work on my paintings, I was going to do a great pantry purge post. Instead, I spent the day horizontally, while my children watched more TV in one day than they usually see in a month. So much for media-free kids.

Fortunately, my husband fed the kids, and even came home from his day-job for lunch. He had to go back to work, but promises to be home for bed time. I don't really feel like I got a sick day. Not as all like when my husband is home sick, door closed, children quieted, occasional trays of tea and crackers. I hate being sick on weekend because I feel like I'm wasting my time I could be spending with my husband , and I hate being sick during the week because I can't really just sack-out the way I'd want to.

Hey, maybe I just hate to be sick. I did get to catch up on reading my twitter feed.  I guess there's the positive.

How do you recuperate, especially when there are the needs of little ones? Its not like I can call in sick or anything.

You still have time to make this for dinner (vegetarian): Ravioli Bake

I did not invent this recipe, but I'm sure I don't know where I found it. Its so easy and forgiving that who needs a recipe?
What you need: whatever pasta sauce you like or have. I use a whole one and half if there's one open in the fridge, a pound of still frozen ravioli, spinach (thawed) & shredded cheese.

Put it in a pan in layers

sneak in some veggies, we like spinach and mushrooms, what does your family like?

Put more cheese on top bake in 450* oven until a ravioli is cooked and it's a bit brown (about 35 - 45 mins.)

Even my son loves this one, and usually I make a little extra for lunches.  I'll admit it, its got loads of cheese, and DD's favorite "oodles in there!" It is comfort food, but every now and then that's what everyone needs.  I'd love ideas for different veggie combinations. Has anyone tried carrots or a different kind of ravioli?

Not what you have a taste for tonight?  See my other Dinner (now)  post!

The 4th, the Festival, and more work than I can handle

I don't have too many photo's from the this years Great Blue Heron Festival, because I took tons of video and not so many stills.
But I'll share them with who ever actually does read my little blog-y-poo. We had so much fun, I was so sorry when it was over.
The weather couldn't have been nicer.
Our friends came too, so the little boys got to play together.
There was tons of terrific music and lots of stuff for the kids to do, including riding behind a tractor, playing in hay, sand box, pond swimming, dancing, and singing along as well.
We drank a little beer, ate some camping and festival foods too.
I didn't' make it to the all night dance tent but that's hard to do when you've got a toddler who still doesn't sleep the night just yet.
Besides even with my after noon nap I just couldn't stay up all night. maybe in years to come. its alright I got to dance just plenty. :)

So now back to the real world I have more work than I can handle and hot summer days just do not motivate a girl to do work! (house work or architecture.) Why can't i just get paid to be my fabulous self? I did get up and go out to a meeting yesterday. I really enjoyed being all showered and lip-glossed. I love the music festivals, with all the barefoot dirty hippies, but ultimately I like wearing heels and jewelry. I should get Kiran up from his nap now.

Sick

Everyone in the house was sick today, I didn't get anything I wanted to done today. Not even a shower. A sick little boy is almost as much of a pain as a sick husband.
