Happy Mother's Day

Being a mother is much like the title of this blog:

I'd like to thank my husband, and my children for making me a mother, it's not been anything I expected but its been wonderful all the same!

On the porch

On the porch
Sunlit but mostly shade
Wind and winds' chime
She sleeps, head tilted
Resting in stroller strap
I drink coffee and list chores
But they can wait

Days of backyard, and bugs
Evenings of diapers and dishes
Sometimes summer ice cream
Anytime peeled apples and yogurt
Sometimes tantrums
Anytime 'I love you's

Poetry: No Sleep Nights

No sleep nights
Diapers and rocking
Lullaby hum
Nummys milk drool
By moon's light
And the smell that lingers in her hair
I delibrately impress this moment
To the place in memory
So deep and perminent
It may become instinct

And all at once
I fall in love with her

Eyes softly closed

My dimple, left cheek
Flickers on her face
And there again when she cries

Playground Spring

Wild curly hair
Smiles
Jump and sing
Spring sun on
Caramel skin
Elbow scrape
Dirty socks
The playground is yours
Because the other boys nap
Your second summer
Is almost here
